Year-End Press Wrap-Up and Financial Tips
As we progress into the holiday 🎉 season, once again, I’m sending you my gratitude 🙏🏼 – whether you’re a current, past, or maybe future client, I love educating 📚 and helping you with your financial questions and goals 🥅 . You are part of my extended family, and I’m so happy to work with you!
To wrap up the year, I’d like to share with you the various press pieces where I’ve been quoted. I really enjoy working with reporters 📰 and believe that when I can help them with their articles, together we are able to reach a much wider audience and share financial tips and wisdom 👩🏾🎓 – hopefully helping more people have a positive impact in their financial lives.
1. On November 30, Barron’s posted this article, “How Advisors are Shielding their clients from Fraud.” In this article, we share tips on how to protect yourself from bad apples 🍎, trying to work 🪱 their way into your financial resources. If you’re already my client, you will recognize the tips I share in the article. As a financial planner, I believe the more transparency 🪞 I’m able to provide my clients, the better off their financial decisions will be. That is why I offer clients their own, secure, financial portal, where they can see their entire financial life come alive and update daily. If you would like your own demo, or learn more, please contact me.
2. On November 2, I was quoted in this article by AARP, “10 Financial Moves to Make in Your 60s.” In tip 7, I talk about having a plan for your ⏰ TIME in retirement. A very common refrain among my clients of all ages, is, “I can’t wait to retire!” I love helping them figure out when that goal may be possible financially, however, the financial side of retirement is just one small piece of the overall picture. It is important to strategize (alone and with your partner 👩❤️💋👩) just how you’ll spend your time, while continuing to create social 👯connections and brain 🧠 growth – both of which are so very important for your health! (And don’t forget to exercise and stay physically 💪🏽 fit).
3. On August 11, Barron’s ran an article titled, “Working Moms Are Neglecting 401(k) Rollovers. Why Advisors Should Help.” As a working mother 👩👩👧👦 myself, I know that there are many aspects of our financial lives that are impacted when we combine care-giving with careers. In addition to keeping track of our various retirement accounts, we must also pay attention to our own Social Security earnings. Further, as I mention in the article, historically, women tend to be less aggressive investors than our male colleagues. This can impact our long-term ability to maximize growth potential for our accounts, and I see, way too often, accounts that have been languishing in cash-type investments or CDs, instead of actively participating in the stock market.
4. On June 28, InvestmentNews quoted me in their article about Britney Spears’ Fight for Financial Independence. I mention the lack of 👩🏻💻female financial advisors, and, more specifically, the lack of female Certified Financial Planning Professionals. The percentage of women in my industry has remained below 25% for decades. I feel so bad that Britney experienced such a terrible time gaining her own financial independence 💪🏽. However, as I stated in the article, “It’s such an opportunity with this celebrity case to call further attention to the fact that women need to own their financial lives. Female advisers who are focused on women [teach] this naturally, but there aren’t enough of us.”
5. I was also quoted by MoneyGeek in an article called, “The Best Car 🚗 Insurance for Drivers with Bad Credit.” I have a special interest in helping clients with the risk management side of their financial house - -this includes ensuring the proper type and amounts $ of coverage for life insurance, disability (income) insurance, long-term care insurance, and property and casualty insurance, for family and business purposes.
